about

“Dawn On Haleakala” is a unique recording of rare Hawaiian birds high on the slopes of Haleakala Mountain in Maui. This dawn chorus features an hour-long nature ambient soundscape from a pristine alpine environment. The Haleakala Conservancy is an ideal organization to endorse for the preservation and promotion of Maui's ecology. This recording was made possible in part by the support of Quiet Parks International. Special naming on the Bandcamp release of this album is to highlight the native language of Hawaii. I was unable to use both languages on the major streaming platforms, but I hope that if you buy or view the album here you will take a minute to think about the indiginous language of a place and how that shapes the human view of our world. Language, not unlike many of these birds is in a similar state of fragility as the world changes and becomes smaller.
